Alpha & Omega Delivery, Inc. opened October 1, 1998. We are a 24-7 trucking company, specializing in over-the road and local deliveries via semis and straight trucks, and central Illinois special Courier and messenger services via straight trucks or vans. We serve several markets primarily in the Midwest, and various industries including automotive, government, financial, medical and various service sector and retail.
Lisa Pierce launched the Delivery business after being approached by a banking delivery company for whom she was an employee. They were restructuring and asked that she serve as an agent. Their trust combined with her entrepreneurial spirit, validated her interest in business ownership, and instilled in her the courage to choose an industry that is predominately male.
Originally, the Courier and Delivery businesses were combined under Delivery; however, due to employment laws and for taxation purposes, they became separate entities in 2001. The businesses started with 5 employees and 10 contractors and quickly grew to six office staff, 3 full and 2 part time A&O drivers, and a team of 15-20 independent contractors depending on need (serving both entities).
The Pierce family, and the Alpha & Omega businesses faced adversity taking the form of lost accounts, fire, turnover and taxation, retirement plan losses, and family issues – all in rapid succession. Even though Lisa was (still is) a working mother with a husband on the road, two five-year olds at home, and with two businesses to run, the adversity did not hold her down. There was no time to ponder the problems. The focus was on solutions. As is consistent with the perseverance of Alpha & Omega and its people, Lisa says, “I had work to do. Failure was not an option to us. People’s livelihood depended on it.”
Currently, Alpha and Omega Couriers and Alpha & Omega Delivery enjoy a loyal, skillful employee and contractor base, a noteworthy and growing client list, and continually streamline processes and operations in order to effectively serve a greater share of the market.
